The Dommu Family

Meet Sarah, Jeremy, Samantha (7) and Maya (4). The Dommu family lives in Columbia. Maya attends Temple Isaiah Preschool and Samantha will be a second grader at Bryant Woods Elementary School in the fall.

How did you hear about PJ Library? We first learned about PJ Library after our oldest daughter was born 7½ years ago. We were living in Washington, DC at the time and our older nephews had been receiving books for several years. Sarah’s parents encouraged us to look into PJ Library. We were thrilled with how easy it was to receive books each month!

What is your family's favorite PJ Library book? We have so many favorites that it’s hard to choose one! Mitzvah Pizza is always a popular choice.

How has PJ Library influenced your family’s Jewish living and decisions? PJ Library helped us expose our children to Jewish living early. The variety of books that we have on a multitude of Jewish topics have given us starting points for many conversations.

What is your favorite PJ Library program? When Samantha was two, we took her to a Challah Making event at a local Whole Foods in Washington, DC. She loved it! We now make challah most Friday nights.

Why is PJ Library important in your home? Jewish culture, community, and values have always been important to us as a family, but we didn’t join a synagogue until last year. We love that PJ Library gave us a starting point for introducing our children to holidays, traditions, and most importantly, mitzvot.

What is your bedtime routine with your little ones? We like to make bedtime into family time. Each kid brushes their teeth and puts on their pajamas. Then they pick out a book and we all snuggle up and read.

We hope you enjoyed getting to know the Dommu Family! If you'd like to be featured as an upcoming PJ LIbrary Family of the Month, email Allison.
