Year-End Message

What a difference a year can make. I can’t believe that it is December and 2020 is finally coming to an end. And yet, I am so grateful for all I have.  The continuing good health of my family, the fact I could reopen my business and stay employed, and most importantly, that I am still able to help others who are in need.

I admit that it’s been hard to focus on silver linings during a year like 2020 — when our minds are consumed by the stress and anxiety brought on by life lived in the midst of a pandemic.  But silver linings are there.  They’re always there.

What about COVID-19?  Well, it may take time for us to focus on the silver lining of a pandemic that feels like it’s consuming our life, our work, and our mental and physical health.  But that silver lining is there.

It’s there in the work of the Jewish Federation of Howard County, which has helped bring us together virtually and that supports both the financial and emotional needs of so many during these difficult times.  It’s in the work that our incredible staff has done to make sure that we contacted as many community members as we could and just make sure everyone was Ok.  And for those who were not doing well, we found out how to help them – and we did.  This is our mission, and we are grateful for the continued ability to help those in need and support one another during the pandemic.

Our supporters, leaders, and staff have worked together hand-in-hand since the start of the pandemic.  You have all been the rainbow after the storm and the most wonderful silver lining in the cloud that is 2020.

Your contributions have meant more than ever this year.  As the year comes to an end, I am asking those of you who can, to make a donation to our annual campaign.  Your continued support through financial donations and your time helps us preserve what we have today and build a stronger Jewish future for Howard County.
