About the speaker:
Michael-Anne (Mickey) Gomez began as Executive Director of the Volunteer Center Serving Howard County (VCSHC) in November 2001. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Women's Giving Circle of Howard County and completed three terms as president of Maryland Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD). She represents her peers on the HandsOn Network's newly formed National Affiliate Assembly. She led the Communications Committee while on the Board of Directors of the Association of Community Services (ACS) of Howard County and served for three years on the Youth on Board Advisory Committee (one term as Chair). Mickey chaired the National VOAD Volunteer Management Committee - under her leadership, the committee drafted and passed the “Volunteer Management Points of Consensus;” guidelines adhered to by National VOAD members. She is also a member of the HandsOn Network Disaster Task Force. Mickey enjoys connecting community members of all ages with meaningful volunteer opportunities at local nonprofit and governmental agencies. Her current passion is encouraging local nonprofits to engage their audiences using social media and technology. Mickey is a 2006 graduate of Leadership Howard County Premier and a graduate of Leadership Miami (1998).
