We will follow an approach to Jewish meditation and chanting that is based in the teachings of Rabbi Jeff Roth, founder of the Awakened Heart Project and author of Jewish Meditation Practices for Everyday Life and Me, Myself & God, a Theology of Mindfulness.

The purpose of the practice is to teach us how to direct our attention into the present moment. Jewish meditation practices include prayer, chant, and blessings. The goal is to cultivate gratitude and awe, to open our hearts and strengthen our love for all beings as part of the Holy One of Being. Ultimately this leads us to a commitment to act in ways that repair the brokenness of our world.
