Join us for the first film of the Oseh Shalom Jewish Film Series—Menache on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 7:15 pm. Deep in the heart of Brooklyn's secretive Hasidic Jewish community, Menashe, a good-hearted but somewhat hapless grocery store clerk, struggles against tradition to keep custody of his only son after his wife passes away, rather than having him raised by close relatives. The New York Times called the film “a sweet comedy that’s not without a bit of sadness” and “gently raises . . . questions about faith, change and conformity.” 2017, Yiddish (with English subtitles), 81 minutes. The film is FREE for Oseh Shalom members, $5 for non-members. Sponsored by the Lifelong Learning Committee. For information contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
