Most of us learn about God as children in religious school, or from reading the Torah, but did not learn that most Jews since the Rabbis of the Talmudic Period have a very different conception of God than is found in the pages of Torah. The diversity of Jewish ways of understanding God, and beliefs concerning God’s role in the world and in our lives is astounding.

Rabbi Amy Scheinerman will facilitate discussions as the class examines how modern Jewish thinkers, living a world of rationalism, scientific inquiry, and advanced technology, approach the subject of God, negotiating the shoals of Evolution, Quantum Theory and String Theory in Physics, and contemporary ethical philosophy.
