Genetic genealogy has emerged as an important tool for genealogists and family historians. Andrew Hochreiter instructs continuing education courses in basic and advanced genetic genealogy at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland. He is also a facilitator for the on-line Genealogical Research Course at Boston University. Mr. Hochreiter’s presentations will include two one-hour lectures on Genetic Genealogy. This first presentation will cover the basics of DNA and how direct-to-consumer test kits have impacted genealogical research. DNA testing has opened the doors to discovering one’s genetic makeup, understanding ancient origins, and revealing potential family relationships. This class will teach you about the structure of DNA and what tests are available.
