Beth Shalom is pleased to welcome two major international experts to address contemporary issues of critical concern. These lectures will be moderated by Rabbi Susan Grossman. The first features Samuel M. Witten on the topic of the Refugee Crisis and Immigration Policy:

In what promises to be a thought provoking and timely program, Samuel M. Witten will discuss the role the US and other countries play in addressing global refugee relief, our government’s long standing refugee resettlement program, and his own experience at the State Department in helping to address the Iraqi and Syrian refugee crises and admission of refugees to the United States.

Mr. Witten has served with distinction in key positions in the State Department dealing with counterterrorism, war crimes and immigration and refugee policy. He was the number two person in charge of all State Department legal matters, including dealing with human rights and refugee issues.
