In the past several years, Oseh Shalom’s Lifelong Learning Committee has held a synagogue-wide book reading. This year we will be reading A Land Twice Promised: an Israeli Woman’s Quest for Peace by award-winning storyteller Noa Baum and published in 2016. Baum's deeply personal memoir recounts her journey from girlhood in post-Holocaust Israel to her adult encounter, and ultimate friendship with, a Palestinian woman who had grown up under Israeli Occupation. With honesty, compassion, and humor, she captures the drama of a nation at war and her discovery of humanity in the enemy.
The book is widely available in paperback and on e-readers. Books will be available for sale at the brunch. The brunch is free for Oseh Shalom members and $10 for non-members. To RSVP, contact Marla Singer at firstname.lastname@example.org or Judy Katz at email@example.com.
