PRE-SPRING KICKOFF:
Purim Carnival an Overwhelming Success
This year’s JFHC Purim Carnival, held on Sunday, March 9, attracted close to 1,000 people at Reservoir High School, an all time high. The addition of more games for older kids, the Barry Louis Polisar Concert held in conjunction with Temple Isaiah, the Yofi Tofi Puppet Theater, and the increased number of craft vendors, were a few of the great changes to this year’s event....

Seder
For Jewish residents of numerous area senior housing developments, Passover wasn't passed over, but celebrated in style with a Seder series conducted by Rabbi Hillel Baron and several volunteers, on behalf of the Howard County Jewish Federation, aiming to make the transition from private to communal living a bit richer in familiar, comforting Jewish content....
Circles
Following the more than three-year-strong success of its regular Friday morning Shabbat Circle (at 10:15 each week – join us for Shabbat songs and a craft!) for children ages 0-4 and their parents, the Parent Resource Place, under the guidance of Coordinator Helaine Brenner, has just recently kicked off the Mitzvah Makers Programs, an intergenerational circle at Harmony Hall.....

Essay Contest to Celebrate the State
What is your wish for Israel at 60? Write an essay or a poem (400 word limit) and send to contest60@jewishhowardcounty.org.
Winners in four categories (youth 6-13, young adult 14-20, adult 21-49, mature adult 50 plus) will be announced in the next newsletter.

Sunday, June 22nd:
Register for "Walk The Land"
A parade for Israel will take place at 9:45am from the Federation parking lot to HCC. Register for $5 and receive a beautiful "Walk The Land" t-shirt, sling bag and water bottle. T-shirts come in all adult sizes only. Registration is easy. Just call the Federation office or send an email to reserve your cool stuff. We only have 75 sets remaining. The parade will be escorted by the police and led by our Federation Teen Campaign banner and local dignitaries.
Israel at 60 Festival
On Sunday, June 22nd, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Howard County will celebrate "Israel at 60" at The Jewish Festival taking place at Howard Community College.
The day will feature entertainment on two stages from noon to 5 p.m. (national and local musicians and chiors singing Jewish folk songs and modern Israeli music; Featured band: Yom Hadash) and a treat for all your senses…

New Programs
JFS is about to launch two new programs for young families, starting this summer.
The Shalom Baby Program will offer a bag of community and Jewish educational materials to families who either move into the community, or have just had a baby.
The Shalom Shabbat Program will encourage young families to get together for Shabbat dinner. For the cost of the dinner, families will have a full Shabbat meal delivered to their homes on the prescribed Friday evening.
